Summer Nature Day Camp - 2006
(Scholarships provided by the Bill Brach Scholarship Fund)

New Jersey Audubon Society (NJAS) and the Essex County Environmental Center (ECEC) worked together to develop and conduct a six-week summer nature day camp program for children in and around Essex County.

What the Children Liked Best:

• catching and holding frogs

• nature walks

• pretending to be frogs

• catching things in the river and pond

• gardening

• hearing stories and singing songs

• seeing the monarch caterpillar, chrysalis and butterfly.

Each week had a different theme.  In addition to outdoor exploration, nature games and crafts, children participated in storytelling, role-playing, simulations and a great diversity of activities to mix fun with learning.
