Enjoy a quiet morning here at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff and/or associate naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is heavy snow, rain, or weather warnings.

Led by Kristin Mylecraine. Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class.  No experience necessary; all levels welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat if you have one (some will be provided.) Cost per class: $12 members, $15 nonmembers. Cost for all 8 classes: $88 members, $112 nonmembers. To register for the full 8-week session, registration is required prior to the first class by calling 908-396-6386.   You may register for a single class. Walk-ins are welcome.

Great Backyard Bird Count

Come one, come all - and help us count some birds!!! CMBO is pleased to once again host a Great Backyard Bird Count Event at the Northwood Center in Cape May Point. Join Associate Naturalists on hourly "walks" - counting all the birds we see at the feeders, trails behind the building, and on Lake Lily across the street. Let's see who can come up with the most species or the most individuals of a certain species - all our counts will be submitted to the official online count. A great chance to learn more about wintering birds and have some fun!! No preregistration necessary. Cost: Free

The Great Backyard Bird Count

Join us for the Great Backyard Bird Count, a global citizen science program for counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of bird populations. Anyone can take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count, from beginning bird watchers to experts. Staff and participants will be counting the birds that come to our birdfeeding station right outside the windows of our Nature Store. Watch from the comfort of a chair inside our store. We will have binoculars to borrow. Arrive anytime and spend as much time as you like. At the end we’ll collect and submit our data.

Digital Photography Workshop 6 – Double Header!: Creating Art With Your Camera; Beyond the Snapshot

Creating Art With Your Camera: "Imagination is the faculty or action of forming new ideas, images or concepts of external objects not present to the senses." During Creating Art with Your Camera, David DesRochers will discuss new ways to see and capture a variety of subjects by using techniques such as motion blur, multiple exposure, and lens zoom.  Searching for and capturing subjects that are often overlooked or seldom seen will also be covered.    Beyond the Snapshot: Taking your photography from ordinary to extraordinary!  Do you want people who look at your pictures say “Wow!”?  Do you want your competition images to get 9’s instead of 8’s? Jack Moskowitz will describe the image capture, composition, and post-processing techniques that make an image more than just a snapshot. $12 members; $25 non-members Registration required by calling 908-396-6386

Spruce Run and Round Valley Reservoirs

Join us to seek out waterfowl and other wintering species, including sorting through the large flocks of gulls that come to roost on these two productive reservoirs.  Some of the highest counts of Lesser Black-backed Gulls in the U.S. come from these water bodies, which can also be good for white-winged gulls. $20 members/$25 non-members Leader: Alan Mart Meet at the "Boat-Launch" parking lot of Spruce Run State Park. From the entrance to the park off of Van Syckels Road in Clinton (1.5 miles west of the junction of Van Syckels and Rt 31), drive through the park’s entrance booths and make the 1st left. Proceed 1 mile to the boat launch parking area.
