Each species and individual displays a unique personality. Think of the relentless determination of the shorebirds, the soaring independence of the raptors, or the colorful charm of the warblers. For bird photographer Scott Gilbert, the magic happens on those special occasions when he is able to reflect the subject's distinctive character in a way that meaningfully resonates with the viewer. An exhibition of Scott’s characterful photographs opens at the Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery, at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, on March 1, 2019 and runs until May 27, 2019. Sundays open from 12 to 4 Mondays closed

Bald Eagle Cruise on the Maurice River

Join Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey and CMBO Naturalists. The Maurice River is a well-known wintering and nesting area for Bald Eagles. Particiapnts will search for eagles and other raptors, wintering waterfowl, welcome the return of nesting Ospreys, and enjoy the natural beauty of this part of the river, largely inaccessible by land. Departs from the public landing at the City of Millville Municipal Marina on Ware Avenue at the Route 49 intersection (adjacent to Millville municipal complex/city hall). Ample free parking. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. Given by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/naturalist.  Eight species of owls can be found in NJ at certain times. Activities and stories will help us appreciate these mostly nocturnal predators. In this family program, we'll learn to imitate their calls and investigate "pellets" they leave behind.   Pre-register by March 28.  Limit 10 children - Age 7 and up. $7 per member child $10 per non-member child

Wild New Jersey Art Exhibit Opening

New Jersey is a wild place, celebrated through art in many creative and unique ways. NJ Audubon Plainsboro Preserve is hosting an art exhibit of all artwork representing New Jersey’s wild life, flora and fauna. Come to the opening, meet the artists, and see New Jersey's wild side from a new perspective. The exhibit is open anytime the Recreation Center is open for the month of April.
