Early Fall Birding on the Delaware River

Led by Dave Oster. Associate Naturalist. Ramapo Valley Reservation is a Bergen County park with ponds, the Ramapo River, and riparian woodlands. Halifax Road, a good migration spot, borders on the north. We'll be looking for Ravens, raptors, and seasonal migrants from the overlook on the Ramapo Mountains. Good habitat for sparrows, bluebird, waxwing, and more. Cost: $10 members, $15 nonmembers. Led by Kristin Mylecraine. Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. For ages 15 years and older. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat if you have one (some will be provided.) This class will be held weekly from 9/7/19 to 10/26/19. There will be no class 8/31/2019. Walk-ins are welcome. To register please call 908-396-6386. Join Captain Bob and the naturalists and crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. Calling all Campers! If you were part of our Summer Nature Camp at the Preserve this summer, we want you back! The weather is still warm, the stream is still wonderfully wet, and the fields are full of bugs and birds. Bring your parents and siblings so that they can enjoy an afternoon of camp fun, along with s’mores around the fire pit. And, check out our Lost and Found for those missing sneakers and water bottles. Open to 2019 campers and their families. Hawks, Trails and Beach

Meets near the Hawkwatch Platform at the Cape May Point State Park. The afternoon hawk flight is often strong, with lower birds punctuated by late day movements of falcons. Seabirds and shorebirds often pass to rest on the beach and passerines remain to be found on the trails.  No preregistration required. Family-friendly. Cost: $6 members, $10 nonmembers.
