Brendan Schaffer, Teacher Naturalist at NJ Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May The Nature Center’s teacher-naturalist is a multi-faceted artist and has worked in a variety of mediums including painting, mixed media and in sand and snow sculpture. Best known for snow sculpting, Brendan was featured on the Travel Channel special, “Best in Snow” in 2017 after his sculpture of a campfire made of snow went viral and reached millions of people all over the world. After settling in Cape May, Brendan has focused on a different medium, sand. Brendan recently won the People’s Choice award at the international sand-sculpting contest held in Fort Myers, Florida.Cost: Free

With Chuck Slugg. Meets at the Northwood Center in Cape May Point. Learn where to go to find birds and how to identify them. Discover how to get the most out of field guides and optics. For absolute beginners, backyard birders, and any birder who wants to improve their skills. Preregistration required by calling 609-400-3864. Family-friendly (recommended for age 12 and up).
