The varied habitats in Belleplain State Forest, yield an amazing diversity of spring migrants and breeders.  Highlights including Summer Tanager, Hooded Warbler, Acadian Flycatcher, Louisiana Waterthrush, and Yellow-billed Cuckoo, are near the northern limit of their breeding range in Belleplain.  Our leaders know the best spots.  Meet CMBO leaders at the Belleplain State Forest Office on Henkensifkin Road, just off Route 550.   No preregistration required. Led by Dave Hall, Associate Naturalist We will tour Greenwood Garden's next door neighbor South Mountain Reservation through the "back door" in search of late spring migrants and summer resident birds. Explore several habitats including hardwood forest, conifer stands, ponds and meadows. Due to construction at Greenwood Gardens the gardens will be closed. WARREN PARK/OROS PRESERVE (Postponed)

Led by Scott Barnes and Patrick Belardo These little-known Middlesex County hotspots provide green oases for migratory species. Warren Park (at the border of Woodbridge & Perth Amboy) has an excellent hardwood forest—complete with understory that is excellent for thrushes, vireos, and warblers; we’ll also visit the Oros Wildlife Preserve where pin oaks, brushy fields, and a large pond/wetland will complement the day’s bird list. Location: Meet at Warren Park at the parking lot just north of the “open grove.” First time participants should review a map, as some GPS devices send you to a nearby apartment complex. The Lorrimer Sanctuary invites families, friends, and nature lovers of all ages to attend our “Nature Explorers” programs. Enjoy watching your budding naturalist ‘go wild’ experiencing woodland adventures. Children use all their senses to safely explore and discover the wonders of nature here at Lorrimer Nature Sanctuary. Children are introduced to nature concepts using a combination of storytelling, exploration and arts & crafts. Join CMBO naturalists at the epicenter of spring shorebirding on the edge of the Delaware Bay.  The impoundment at Heislerville has become a spring legend, attracting rarities, plus zillions of shorebirds.  Depending on the tide conditions, we may visit nearby East Point or Thompson's Beach.  Meet at the clam shell parking area at the end of Matt's Landing Road near Heislerville, next to the impoundment and across from the marina.
