COVID-19 update as of March 9, 2022

All NJ counties are considered medium to low COVID-19 community levels.  New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated, wants additional protection, or comes from a higher community level area should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors.  Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus

PRE-REGISTRATION MAY BE REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN PROGRAMS AND FIELD TRIPS

No walk-ins for programs that require pre-registration

Summer StoryWalk® at Hawk Rise

For families with children ages 2-6. Discover the forest in a whole new way as we read and look for animals on the Move! Bring a book to life by reading in a unique environment! Take a StoryWalk® with us through Hawk Rise Sanctuary and discover this wonderful park in a whole new way. While reading the story we will make discovery stops and have some hands-on fun. We’ll be reading the book “Move!” by Steve Jenkins and Robin Page. This program is appropriate for families with children ages 2 to 6. Cost: Free NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: Effective June 4, 2021, fully vaccinated people may attend outdoor programs without masks. If you are unvaccinated, please mask up. The animals at the nature center are hungry for some lunch! Come observe feeding time and get to know our snakes and turtles. Each of our animal ambassadors can be found in New Jersey. Learn about their habitats, diets, and awesome adaptations! COST: FREE (suggested $5 donation) Limited to groups of up to 20 participants during this time. Children may not participate without an adult. LOCATION: Nature Center of Cape May, 1600 Delaware Ave, Cape May, NJ NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: Effective June 4, 2021, fully vaccinated people may attend outdoor programs without masks. If you are unvaccinated, please mask up. Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however registrations can be transferred to another program in the future. REGISTER HERE

Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist, former president of the New Jersey Mycological Association This program will start with Dorothy’s collection of fungi fun facts and cultural uses. Then a walk through the woodland trails to look for the diverse groups of mushrooms and fungi. Not only are fungi important as nature's recyclers, they are also essential to the health of our forests and other plant species. Information pages will include fungi groups and the "fool-proof four." One person per ticket. Ticket sale ends 8/14 at 4:00 PM. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate.
