Half Day Fridays at Sandy Hook

A wide variety of habitats ensure good bird diversity at one of the state’s best spots. Be prepared for 3-4 hours of walking over flat and sandy surfaces. Meet at Parking Lot B, about halfway down the lot by the bathrooms. Muddy Hands Academy: Fall 2022
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin LakesNew Jersey Audubon's Muddy Hands Academy - utilizing a Nature Preschool model. A great choice for your 3–6-year old's! *Free to apply! * Looking for a way to add nature learning to your little one's week? Join New Jersey Audubon Staff as we use local phenomena to explore the world around us. Children will spend their time outdoors on the Lorrimer Sanctuary property bouncing between hands-on, inquiry-based activities and free-play to help them develop their own understanding of the natural world. We will use Nature as a guide during this twice weekly program over a period of eight weeks. Lessons will include activities focused on natural history topics, a story and craft, age-appropriate risk taking, all with attention to mindfulness and fun. *NO COST TO APPLY! * Children must be a minimum of 3 to enroll and cannot be older than 6 years old to participate. All children in Muddy Hands Academy must be potty-trained and bathroom independent. The Muddy Hands Academy utilizes a Nature Preschool model with children spending as much time as possible outdoors. Children should be prepared for the weather including wet and muddy conditions. Class sizes are limited to 5 children per session. New Jersey Audubon’s Lorrimer Sanctuary is not a licensed childcare center. PLEASE NOTE: this application does not guarantee your child(ren)s acceptance into the program. NJ Audubon Hawk Watches at Scherman Hoffman Observation Deck
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, BernardsvilleJoin our Naturalist on the observation deck for a bird’s eye view of fall migration. Marvel at the spectacular view of raptors and other birds as they fly over the sanctuary. Hawk Watches are scheduled for Friday 11/4 and 11/11 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Note: a hawk watch day will be cancelled if there is rain, snow, or weather warnings. Registration and fee are per date. You must pre-register for each date you wish to attend. Harbor Art Gallery Opening Reception – November 2022
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape MayHali MacLaren and John Safrit - Featured Artists at the Harbor Gallery in Cape May! The Harbor Gallery is pleased to announce their featured local artists for the month of November. Hali MacLaren and John Safrit will display their works with an opening reception to meet the artists on November 4th from 4-6pm. All artwork is for sale, with a portion of sales going to support the Nature Center of Cape May. Light refreshments will be served. The show will remain on exhibit at the Harbor Gallery for the entire month. Location: The Harbor Gallery is located at New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May at 1600 Delaware Ave, Cape May. The Nature Center will follow all CDC Covid safety guidelines.
