COVID-19 update as of August 25th, 2022

New Jersey counties are varied in their COVID-19 community transmission rates.  New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated or who wants additional protection should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors.  Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

PRE-REGISTRATION MAY BE REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN PROGRAMS AND FIELD TRIPS

No walk-ins for programs that require pre-registration

Raritan Bay Waterfront Park Bird Walk

The park is located directly on Raritan Bay and features beach, tidal flats, salt marsh and wooded areas. We'll explore the bay, beaches, tidal flats and marsh for a variety of waterfowl and shorebirds. We'll hope to encounter Gannets, and raptors including Bald Eagle, Peregrine, and Merlin. Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist. Please bring your own binoculars, and spotting scope if desired. There will be no equipment available to borrow. COST: $15 members, $20 nonmembers. Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate. Ticket sales end on 11/19/2021 at 4:00 PM. Interested in becoming a member? If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however registrations can be transferred to another program in the future. REGISTER HERE

Large numbers of waterfowl and raptors, plus late shorebirds and songbirds at one of the best birding spots in the state. The varied habitats of Forsythe NWR assures a good variety of species from ducks, wading birds, and shorebirds to raptors and sparrows. Easy birding around an 8-mile wildlife drive. Led by Mike Mandracchia and Hank Burk. Turkeys at Hawk Rise? You bet. Explore the sanctuary and find out more! Have you ever seen a wild turkey? We will walk the trails at Hawk Rise and look for them! Did you know that Ben Franklin wanted it to be our national bird? We’ll build a turkey nest, hunt food like a turkey, try our luck with a turkey “caller”, and make a craft for your Thanksgiving table. This program is for children ages 5 and up with their families.
