Appalachian Spring Birding

With Scott Barnes. With mountain forests, hemlock glens, marshes, streams, and bogs, there is no better place in New Jersey than High Point State Park and Stokes State Forest to see and hear a diversity of northern breeding birds in a concentrated area. This workshop is entirely in the field and yes, we will look at birds like Cerulean and Chestnut-sided Warblers, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, search for drumming Ruffed Grouse and tally well over 100 species in two days. Preregistration required.  Please register early - group size is limited 2 day workshop cost: $150 members, $200 nonmembers. Meets at the Belleplain State Forest Office on Henkensifkin Road, just off Route 550. Varied habitats yield an amazing diversity of spring migrants and breeders. Highlights include many target species, such as Acadian Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Louisiana Waterthrush.  No preregistration required.
