Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist Learn about the trees of eastern forests that are at risk or are lost. Eastern forests have changed since colonial times and are still changing. Learn about the causes and species we have lost and may still be losing in this illustrated program. What impact will this have on other wildlife? Weather permitting, a short trail walk will follow to check out trees at risk. One person per ticket. Ticket sale ends 05/22 at 2:00 PM. COST: $10 members, $15 nonmembers. Grab your flashlights and get ready to behold an annual spring phenomenon: Horseshoe Crab spawning on the Cape May Harbor!  Walk along the shoreline with a Nature Center Naturalist and learn all about Horseshoe Crab ecology and life history. Plus, help this keystone species by flipping them over while listening to the tale of Red Knots, an endangered species lovingly nicknamed the “Moon Bird”. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Children may not participate without an adult. Please bring flashlights (cell phone flashlights work too!). We may walk up to a mile, over generally level surfaces. Some surfaces may be sandy, slippery, or uneven. Please dress for the weather and wear waterproof footwear. reTURN the Favor Public Walk: Cooks Beach

Join us for a reTURN the Favor Walk organized by New Jersey Audubon to help rescue stranded horseshoe crabs and learn more about them along the way. This event is great for all ages. Be sure to wear shoes that can get wet, and be prepared for the conditions, including bug spray and sun protection. IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  We bird (and crab) in all weather. Be sure to check the forecast in advance and dress in layers appropriate for prevailing weather conditions. The weather in Cape May can differ considerably from nearby inland areas and may be warmer, colder, or windier so it’s best to be over prepared. We may have to bird in the rain, so please bring your rain gear.
