Enjoy a quiet morning here at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff and/or associate naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. Go Birding at Becker Farm

Led by Dave Hall. The woods and meadows at this former dairy farm attract an excellent diverstiy of southbound migrants in the fall. There is also the opportunity to climb up the ridge to overlook the Passaic River Valley. Meet at the Essex County Environmental Center and carpool to the entrance. The Tourne

Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist The Tourne is a Morris County Park located in Denville & Mountain Lakes.   We will explore wooded trails adjacent to a large wetland area known as Rattlesnake Meadow.  Although the trails skirt the Meadow they are normally "dry."  The wooded areas are very good for Pileated Woodpecker and the Meadow often has Wood Duck and Great Blue Heron.  A variety of raptors such as Bald Eagle, Red-Shouldered, and Kestrel may also be seen, as well as seasonal migrants.  We expect to see kinglets, good warblers, and short-distance migrants. Led by Kristin Mylecraine. Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. For ages 15 years and older. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat if you have one (some will be provided.) This class will be held weekly from 9/7/19 to 10/26/19. There will be no class 8/31/2019. Walk-ins are welcome. To register please call 908-396-6386. To register for the full 8-week session, registration is required prior to the first class. You may register for a single class. Cost: Cost for all 8 classes: $88 members, $112 nonmembers. Digital Photography Workshop II – Composition

Led by Phil Witt and Dave DesRochers, Associate Naturalists. Workshop 2 will focus on composition--that is, capturing the best image. The workshop will be organized around three nature photography principles—light, composition, and moment. You will learn how to use elements of composition such as color, depth of field, lines, patterns, perspective, shapes, space, and texture. The workshop will review examples from a variety of subject types within nature photography, ranging from birds to insects to landscapes. Participants are encouraged to bring examples of their own images on a thumb drive for in-class critique and editing. Cost: $12 members, $25 non-members. Call 908-396-6386 for more information
