New Jersey Audubon field trips and programs adhere to CDC guidelines; leaders have the right to ask a participant to leave the program if someone is not adhering to these guidelines for the health and safety of all.  Leaders and participants must wear face coverings throughout the program and maintain social distancing (at least 6’ of separation). Leaders may remove their face covering in order to be heard by the group while maintaining social distance. Please do not come to a program if you are sick or have a sick family member. People coming from other states should follow New Jersey’s Travel Advisories for COVID -19 before attending a New Jersey Audubon program including 14-day self-quarantine.  For a list of states go to covid19.nj.gov.  There will be no sharing of equipment including binoculars or spotting scopes.

Early Fall Birding on the Delaware River at Petty’s Island

PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. This wooded island in the Delaware River is truly an urban oasis for woodland, wading and shore birds. Learn some interesting history along the way and discover how this industrial port is transforming into a wildlife sanctuary. Registration is REQUIRED for this trip. Children MUST be 12 or older (or in 6th grade). Please register early – group size is limited. Location: Petty's Island. Directions after registration. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 5:00 PM the day before the walk. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. One person per ticket. Face masks and social distancing required; please bring your own binoculars, loaner binoculars will not be available.
