Coastal Birding at Two Mile

With CMBO Naturalists. Come explore the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge's Two Mile Beach Unit's barrier island habitat where we'll see shorebirds, gulls, and waterfowl as well as offshore migrants such as Northern Gannett and scoters. We'll walk the beach to the Cold Spring Jetty where we'll look for Great Cormorant and Purple Sandpiper. We'll also visit the duck blind to view the salt ponds for ducks and raptors. Cost: $15 members, $20 nonmembers. Paint Your Own Gourd Birdhouse

Led by Bonnie O'Connor, Art Teacher, and Stephanie Punnett, Program Director.  Paint your own gourd birdhouse for the cavity nesting birds returning from their winter homes this spring. Bonnie, retired art teacher with 40 years experience, will give a demonstration on painting technique, and help you along with your painting.  We'll start our program with a short presentation about gourds and how to grow them.  Hang your decorative gourd birdhouse in your backyard, and enjoy watching the new resident raise their young! $17 per gourd members, $24 per gourd nonmembers Registration required by 2/20/2019 Call 908-396-6386 to register

For bird photographer Scott Gilbert, the magic happens on those special occasions when he is able to reflect the subject's distinctive character in a way that meaningfully resonates with the viewer. An exhibition of Scott’s characterful photographs opens at the Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery, at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, on March 1, 2019 and runs until May 27, 2019.
