Enjoy a quiet morning here at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff and/or associate naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is heavy snow, rain, or weather warnings.

Harlequin Romance

With Program Director Brett Ewald and CMBO naturalists. Harlequin Ducks and Purple Sandpipers are almost guaranteed on this trip to Barnegat Light State Park along with scoters, gulls, Northern Gannets and other winter specialties. This trip involves a long walk over sand and jetty, is often windy and cold, but always productive. Preregistration required. Cost: $24 members, $32 nonmembers. Winter is coming! Join us as we look for signs of the season while we hike the trails of Hawk Rise Sanctuary. How do the plants change as the weather gets colder? What animals stay at Hawk Rise during the winter? Dress for the weather and potentially snowy or muddy trails. This program is FREE and appropriate for families with children of all ages. Sunset Beach: A Place for all Seasons
