NJ Audubon: Mahlon Dickerson Reservation Birdwalk
June 7 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist
Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson Township is the largest and “wildest” park in the Morris County Park system. On this trip we’ll walk the Ogden Trail in the northwest corner of the park. Ogden Trail follows an old railroad bed through a variety of habitat including wooded slopes, wet woods, limestone outcroppings, ponds and marsh. The varied habitat supports a rich array of breeding birds including Wood Duck, Least and Acadian Flycatcher, Louisiana and Northern Waterthrush, and Hooded, Worm-eating and Cerulean Warblers. A variety of other flycatcher, thrush and vireo species should be present as well. Ogden Trail is generally flat and wide, providing an easy walk. Time permitting we’ll check out Saffin Pond, just south of the parking area, for additional species.
Please bring your own binoculars or spotting scope if desired. There will be no equipment available to borrow.
Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate.
COST: $20 Members, $25 Non-members
