NJ Audubon World Series of Birding Youth Development Team
March 20, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

For youth in grades 6, 7, and 8.
Are you an aspiring young birder? Do you want to be a part of the largest and most prestigious birding competition in the country? The NJ Audubon World Series of Birding occurs every year in New Jersey and calls upon the toughest and brightest birders in the world. This year Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary is excited to offer our first youth World Series of Birding development team. We will have five planned meetings prior to the event to build our team dynamics, discuss species identification, and plan our birding route for the day. Optional practice sessions will also be available. Then on competition day, May 14, we will spend nearly all-day birding in northern New Jersey trying to find as many species as possible. While this is a commitment, it is led by a five-time participant (two-time Youth champion) in the World Series. Registration is limited to six participants, so don’t miss out! Meetings will be held Sundays, March 20, 27, April 10, 24, and May 1.
This program will be held partly indoors; face masks and social distancing required regardless of Covid vaccination status.
COST: $20 for members, $30 for nonmembers. Cost includes WSB fee, but we encourage event fundraising!

NEW JERSEY AUDUBON’S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: All NJ counties are considered medium to low COVID-19 community levels. New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated, wants additional protection, or comes from a higher community level area should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors. Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please bring binoculars if you have them.
CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however, registrations can be transferred to another program in the future.
