We expected sparrows and instead got Baltimore Orioles, Pine Siskins, Rusty Blackbirds and Wood Ducks. We did have some sparrows, including a very cooperative Savannah Sparrow but visible sparrow numbers were down. Both species of kinglets foraged in good light and an Eastern Bluebird perched, singing, at the top of a tree for quite a while. The “closing act” was a pair of adult Bald Eagles wheeling in the sky right above us.
