Eileen Murphy, Ph.D., VP of Government Relations

Dr. Murphy has a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Rutgers University, an M.S. in Outdoor Education from Northern Illinois University, and a B.S. in English with a minor in Biology from the University of Notre Dame and is author or co-author on numerous peer-reviewed scientific papers that have appeared in scholarly journals, including Environmental Science and Technology. She has over 25 years of experience working in collaborative research, policy and philanthropic environments with increasing leadership and responsibility.

Sandra handles the strategic direction of the Coalition alongside three other staff members. Sandra enjoys hiking and kayaking throughout the watershed and her love for conservation began as a child spending summers in Wildwood. Prior to her position with the Coalition, Sandra was NY/NJ Baykeeper’s Policy and Communications Director where she founded and managed the organization’s Plastic Pollution Prevention Campaign.

Kelly manages the Coalition’s state lead initiative which advances legislation throughout the four basin states to further protect the watershed for people and wildlife alike. Kelly enjoys wandering the woods with his partner, Gavin, and found himself in conservation to ensure equal access to parks and trails for generations to come. Previously, Kelly worked for National Audubon Society as New York Field Organizer where he empowered their grassroots network to advocate for birds and their critical habitats.

Rita has been the Outreach & Communications Manager for the NJ Audubon-led Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed since 2017. She has been involved in issue advocacy, strategic communications, and public policy since 2010. Rita holds an Accreditation in Public Relations from the Universal Accreditation Board.

Gina is the Communications Intern for the Coalition and works alongside Rita working on media outreach and promoting CDRW policies. She is currently a senior at The College of New Jersey, and enjoys hiking, painting, and cooking in her free time. Before joining the Coalition, she worked with other students at her school to create a campaign advocating for reduced pesticide and fertilizer use on campus to protect nearby aquatic ecosystems and wildlife, which helped inspire her to further her career in conservation.
