New Jersey Audubon field trips and programs adhere to CDC guidelines; leaders have the right to ask a participant to leave the program if someone is not adhering to these guidelines for the health and safety of all.  Leaders and participants must wear face coverings throughout the program and maintain social distancing (at least 6’ of separation). Leaders may remove their face covering in order to be heard by the group while maintaining social distance. Please do not come to a program if you are sick or have a sick family member. People coming from other states should follow New Jersey’s Travel Advisories for COVID -19 before attending a New Jersey Audubon program including 14-day self-quarantine.  For a list of states go to covid19.nj.gov.  There will be no sharing of equipment including binoculars or spotting scopes.

Winter Solstice Walk at the Plainsboro Preserve

Winter solstice is the shortest day of the year. Join us as we welcome winter and celebrate the sunny days ahead. The Winter Solstice is a time to reflect on the beautify of nature. Join us as we walk together and enjoy nature around us. We will decorate trees for wildlife and discuss some of the traditions of the Winter Solstice. Those wishing to help celebrate nature may make (or buy) and bring all natural bird seed ornaments to place in and around the feeders for wildlife to feast and enjoy. This walk is approximately 1.5 - 2 miles. Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes. Don't forget your flashlight as it will likely be dark as we end our walk. Children 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies.

Full Moon Walk

As the sun sets and the moon rises we find a whole new world to explore. Join Miss Anne for this walk after dark at the Plainsboro Preserve. Many nocturnal animals reside at the Plainsboro Preserve. Unfortunately for the people, the gates are closed at night. Only for special events can pre-registered participants stay after dark. Under the light of the moon we will enjoy a walk along the trails to see what animals may come out at night. We may walk 1.5 -2 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain.
