COVID-19 update as of March 9, 2022

All NJ counties are considered medium to low COVID-19 community levels.  New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated, wants additional protection, or comes from a higher community level area should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors.  Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus

PRE-REGISTRATION MAY BE REQUIRED FOR CERTAIN PROGRAMS AND FIELD TRIPS

No walk-ins for programs that require pre-registration

Becker Farm Birding in Early Fall

Explore both field and forest while enjoying beautiful vistas of the Passaic River Valley. This is the right time to watch for early “fall” migrants travelling along the ridgelines of the Watchung Mountains. Meet at Essex County Environmental Center, 621 B Eagle Rock Ave., Roseland, NJ 07068 Becker Farm dates back to 1880 when it was a farm. Over the years this farm added its famous railroad which entertained families for over 30 years. The now abandoned farm is a great place to spot grassland birds. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED COST:$10 members, $15 nonmembers. NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: Fully vaccinated people may attend outdoor programs without masks. Riker Hill and Becker Tract

Walk through old farm fields to discover overwintering field birds. Hike along the ridge at Riker Hill for great views and a look at woodland birds. Meet at the Essex County Environmental Center and we will carpool to the hiking site. Led by Dave Hall, Associate Naturalist PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: $10 members, $15 nonmembers.
