Birds: This site supports breeding pairs of state-endangered Bald Eagles and Pied-billed Grebes. The open waters of Rancocas Creek near the Delaware River provide habitat for significant congregations of waterfowl throughout the winter. Wintering waterfowl species include Mallard and American Black Duck. The Rancocas Creek is also a major spring migration staging area for waterfowl including Northern Pintails.

Conservation: In cooperation with NJ Department of Environmental Protection and other stakeholders, the Burlington County Department of Resource Conservation prepared a watershed management plan for the Rancocas Watershed that identifies water quality problems. The plan also identifies several solutions to these problems, including maintenance of riparian buffers, public education about point and nonpoint sources of pollution, stormwater management, water conservation, reduction of Canada Goose populations and development of partnerships with local communities and governments. Lands should also be identified and prioritized for protection through acquisition and conservation.
