Welcome to the NJ Birding and Wildlife Trails website
The NJ Birding and Wildlife Trails program began in 2004 and is part of the NJ Audubon family. With the help of our funders and partners, we are showcasing natural New Jersey.
We hope you enjoy planning your outdoor excursion to some of the most beautiful places in the state. So far, we have completed the following print & online trail guides:
1. Delaware Bayshores ( Cape May, Cumberland & Salem counties)
2. Meadowlands & More (Hackensack River Watershed)
3. Skylands (Hunterdon, Sussex & Warren counties)
4. Pine Barrens & Beyond (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden & Gloucester counties)
Our guides are broken down by county, with the exception of the Meadowlands & More guide, which covers the Hackensack River Watershed area. Each county/area has 2-4 driving routes with anywhere from 8 to 12 stops along each route. The stops are sites that have been identified as wildlife-viewing areas. They include everything from small municipal parks and private preserves to State Forests and National Wildlife Refuges measuring in the thousands of acres. There is truly something for everyone on the NJ Birding and Wildlife Trails!
