Trail Guides

This trail focuses on public access points along Cape May County’s section of the Delaware Bayshore. All kinds of wildlife viewing are available year-round in this rich habitat. This area, along with the bayshore in Cumberland County, is renowned for the annual spectacle of horseshoe crab spawning, from mid-May through mid-June. Millions of shorebirds stop to feast on the horseshoe crab eggs and refuel for the remainder of their migration to points as far north as the Arctic tundra. Other sites farther inland also offer an abundance of wildlife experiences from wildflowers to butterflies to terrapins to singing frogs and toads, and of course, bird migration and nesting.
