The Nature Center is directly across from the Harbor at the corner of Brooklyn and Delaware Aves. Map
Ample street parking. Explore the centers and gardens free of charge. Most programs require a small fee.

| | The Nature Center of Cape May is a must-see attraction for any family visiting Cape May. The environmental education campus includes the Trucksess Welcome Center, a three-story observation tower, indoor observation lounge, three classrooms, exhibit aquaria with live animals and touch tanks (summer season), a small gift shop and multiple themed display gardens. The harbor and adjacent area provide natural classrooms that are used in the center's programs. In additon, the Nature Center is close to a diversity of habitats, which are easily incorporated into its programs.
The Nature Center offers a full schedule of natural history programs for visitors and residents throughout the year. A wide variety of group educational programs are available as well, either at the Nature Center of Cape May or at alternate sites such as outdoor habitats, schools or clubs,
the opportunity for a hands-on
interaction with seasonal visitors in the aquaria, including horseshoe crabs and diamondback
terrapins in late spring and early summer.
The Nature Center is a great vantage point from which to observe birds spending the winter in the Cape May Harbo, especially when viewing from the Center's protected tower.
It is worth a quick check of the harbor for lingering waterfowl, shorebirds, and any passing migrants. A walk along the beach across from the Nature Center may yield interesting shells and other aquatic treasures.
Summer is the busiest season for family programs at the Nature Center. Consult their web site or call in advance regarding the full schedule of events. Stroll through the gardens, which attract a variety of butterflies and other interesting creatures.
Fall is a great time to check the small patch of beach across the road from The Nature Center. You may find something unexpected, such as a close-up view of an Osprey, Common Loon or American Oystercatcher.
