ACCESS AND PARKING:  Open daily from 5 am to 10 pm. On site parking available.

SPECIAL FEATURES:  A pavilion by the river’s edge is a good place to relax for an afternoon with a book or to have a picnic lunch. It also provides cover for wildlife watchers willing to brave the elements to view rare bird species that may be driven in by passing storms.

A CLOSER LOOK:  While walking along the path by the river, be alert for shorebirds that feed close by at the water's edge.

SITE DESCRIPTION:  Riverview Beach Park is a large, well-tended site with walking and bicycling paths, picnic areas, a playground and panoramic views of the Delaware River. A thriving amusement park at the turn of the century, it is now a popular spot for outdoor recreation, including wildlife watching. Ducks and geese gather in the pond and out on the river, while other birds feed on the lawns.

THROUGH THE SEASONS:
Winter:  Common Merganser, Mallard, Ring-billed and Herring Gull may be seen on the river.
Spring:  Cormorants perch atop just about any object in the Delaware River, spreading their wings to dry their feathers. Mixed flocks of Tree and Barn Swallows arrive in large numbers to feed on insects over the fields in the evening. You may also see migrating waterfowl, hawks, and songbirds. This area in New Jersey is a critical area for birds to rest and feed during their migration along the Atlantic Flyway.
Summer:  The park gets many visitors to its picnic area and playground so wildlife viewing is best early in the morning. Be sure to scan the sky for the local Peregrine Falcon, which is known to nest on the Delaware Memorial Bridge just north of the park. Shorebirds and wading birds feed along the southern portion of the beach.
Fall:  Migrating waterfowl are heading south, using the Delaware River as a navigational landmark. Colorful deciduous trees decorate the scene. Pennsville’s popular September Fest is held at Riverview Beach Park.
