Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis)

Perfect for tough wet spots or rain gardens, Cardinal Flower is 2-3’ tall, with bright red flowers in late spring/early summer that are popular with various pollinators but especially hummingbirds. They love water and thrive in rain gardens (and can handle being planted directly next to or in water sources like ponds or streams) but are happy in average garden soil too, as long as they are kept watered during dry periods.
