Above Par Birding at Cox Hall Creek – November 7, 2021

Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Bernie Hodgdon

Temp: 44° F

Winds:  NNE 9 mph

Weather Conditions: mostly cloudy

The action was on the big pond at the far side of CHC WMA this morning. Scanning through a group of Mallards, one duck just didn’t fit in. It was a gorgeous male Wood Duck, swimming with the flock and seemingly unperturbed by our presence. Nearby a first-of-season male Hooded Merganser was feeding, along with a Pied-billed Grebe. We also had a single female Purple Finch feeding in a cedar along with many Yellow-rumped Warblers.
