Above Par Birding at Cox Hall Creek September 11, 2022

Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Alan Crawford

Temp: 71°F

Winds: SE 8 mph

Weather Conditions: cloudy

The quiet in the parking lot at CHC WMA didn’t bode well for our walk this morning. But we hadn’t gone far when Roger spotted a bird, visibly vested even from a distance, perched atop a snag. It turned out to be an Olive-sided Flycatcher, probably the one found there yesterday. Osprey are still around, with one posing and calling from the snag at the large pond, and a flock of Great Egrets sailed over, seemingly trying to decide on what direction to go. White-eyed Vireos and Great-crested Flycatchers were calling in several places, a couple of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds zipped by, and Green Herons were feeding along the pond edge.
