The first of the Purple Martins have returned to their nest boxes at the State Park, having survived their long migration from wintering grounds in South America. Other returning migrants seen included Eastern Phoebes and Yellow-shafted Flickers, Laughing Gulls, and Osprey. Ducks have become scarce, but the Lesser Scaup and Blue-winged Teal remain in the plover ponds.
