NJ Audubon: Lord Stirling Park Bird Walk

Somerset County Environmental Education Center 190 Lord Stirling Rd, Basking Ridge

Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist The Lord Stirling Park birdwalks have had up to 70 species and 13 warbler species in one day. This is a great spot for flycatchers, vireos, warblers, and goodies like Great-horned Owl, Red-headed Woodpecker, Alder Flycatcher, Marsh Wren, and in some years Prothonotary Warbler. We will also spend some time at the East Observation Deck, which overlooks the adjacent Great Swamp marshes. Trails are level but may be wet depending on recent rain. Please bring your own binoculars or spotting scope if desired. There will be no equipment available to borrow. Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate. After a short lecture on the principles of flower photography, the group will take a short drive to the Cross Estate to photograph flowers in its garden. Please bring your camera.
