Join us in celebrating monarch butterflies at this year's Monarch Festival 2020! MONARCH FESTIVAL 2020 SCHEDULE Thursday , September 24th & Friday, September 25th (Virtual programming) 10:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Log in to our Virtual Monarch Festival from your home computer! We understand that the current state of the world is difficult to deal with, so sit back and relax from home while we delve into the wonderful world of monarch butterflies. With different activities all day long, you can watch sessions live or view the recorded versions later with the purchase of a ticket. We will include the biology of the caterpillar and butterfly, outdoor lab experiences, as well as some fun crafts you can do from home. That will not stop us from celebrating the beauty that is the monarch butterfly. Sign up for our morning session or our afternoon session where we will pack all the goodness of our festival into a fun filled trifecta of activities. Groups will rotate between arts and crafts, a garden tour and monarch tagging! This is our only day of the festival in-person programs of the The morning session will run from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM and the afternoon sessions from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM and 3:00 PM-5:00 PM. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED (walk-ups will not be permitted). Join Program Director Melissa Roach and CMBO naturalists for this 2-hour walk around the Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area! Famous for migration, we'll search for warbler, vireos, sparrows, and so much more.  If the winds are right, we could be awash with migrants! COST: $6 members, $10 nonmembers. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Due to our Covid-19 guidelines (see below), there will be no sharing of equipment including binoculars or spotting scopes. Binoculars WILL NOT be available for loan from the leaders. Thank you for your understanding. Join CMBO Monarch Monitoring Project naturalists for a stroll through a milkweed-filled meadow to learn about Monarch Butterfly biology and migration. We’ll hope to see monarchs and other butterflies, and we’ll wrap up by tagging one or more monarchs and send them on their way to Mexico. Family-friendly COST: $6 members, $10 nonmembers.
