Sunday Morning at Turkey Point

We’ll explore the Glades Wildlife Refuge and Dividing Creek to enjoy wintering raptors, including lots of Bald Eagles, and wintering shorebirds, gulls and ducks, including Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Hooded Mergansers, Common Mergansers and Bonaparte’s Gulls. The cruise will focus on exploring the inshore Pelagic Zone (approx. 3-20 miles) off Cape May, NJ for Pelagic Birds and Marine Mammals. Marine Mammal Naturalists from Cape May Whale Watch and Research Center with our expert Pelagic Bird Naturalists from the Cape May Bird Observatory and will guide you through spotting and photographing the amazing wildlife Cape May has to offer! This trip is an excellent choice for the beginner in pelagic birding to try out a longer cruise, as well as a convenient option for the experienced birder to get out on the ocean! NJ Young Birders Club-Cape May Spring Watch
Cape May Point State Park Hawkwatch Platform NJ, United StatesSee and learn about migratory species including waterfowl, loons, gannets, and more on Cape Island during spring migration. We'll search for waterfowl, loons, gannets, gulls, and early spring songbirds at Cape May Point State Park's many habitats. We will introduce young birders to Cape May Spring Watch Count, where observers conduct an organized count of migratory birds passing by a particular point. Led by Adehl Schwaderer, Program Coordinator, and the George Meyers Naturalist, Cape May Bird Observatory. Location: Meets at the Cape May Point State Park. We'll meet in front of the Hawkwatch Platform located across the large parking lot, opposite the Cape May Point Lighthouse. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: FREE CANCELLATION: NJA/CMBO programs require a minimum number of registrants to run, five days in advance of the start of the tour but are seldom cancelled. If we do cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, we notify all participants in advance, and all are eligible for a full credit or refund.
