Join us for a festive holiday workshop! Using fresh evergreens, create your own handcrafted holiday wreath while enjoying hot cider, hot chocolate, and other goodies. The process is easy to learn, and even beginners leave with impressive creations. In the process you’ll learn to identify common evergreen trees by their leaves and cones. All materials provided, and you’re welcome to bring your own special decorations. This program is suited for teens and adults. COST: $35 members, $40 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member? NJ Audubon: Winter Woodpecker Wander at Hawk Rise
Led by Angus Macaulay, NJ Audubon Teacher Naturalist Hawk Rise is home to several woodpecker species and winter is a prime time to spot them. Join us for a walk along the trails as we discuss these amazing birds and observe them in their in their natural habitat. Loaner binoculars will be available. NJ Audubon: Saturday Winter Solstice Hike
NJ Audubon: Saturday Winter Solstice Hike
Led by Sue Predl, Nature Store Assistant Celebrate the days getting longer and join Sue for a guided two-mile nature hike to enjoy the trees, birds, and plant life at Scherman Hoffman Nature Sanctuary on the shortest day of the year. The trails we hike will vary, but we can guarantee beautiful views of our sanctuary. Walking time is flexible but will be approximately 2 hours. Please dress for the winter weather and wear sturdy shoes; be prepared to walk on uneven ground and up hills. The hike will go rain or shine. We will meet at the Scherman Hoffman Nature Store at 2:00 PM. Registration required by 12:00 PM the day of the hike. COST: free for members, $5 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member?
