Nature Explorers – Spring 2023
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesJoin Lorrimer's Teacher Naturalist and enjoy watching your naturalist go wild experiencing woodland adventures. For kids 4-8 years old. Lorrimer Sanctuary invites families, friends, and nature lovers to join us for an exploration of our natural world. Enjoy watching your budding naturalist ‘go wild’ experiencing woodland adventures. Children use all their senses to safely explore and discover the wonders of nature here at Lorrimer Sanctuary. Children are introduced to nature concepts using a combination of storytelling, exploration and arts and crafts. It is educational and fun! Best for families with children 4-8 years old. COST: $6 per member child / $8 per non-member child CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Arbor Day BioBlitz at CMBO’s Northwood Center
Cape May Bird Observatory - Northwood Center 701 East Lake Drive, Cape May Point, NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO Naturalists and staff, along with local wildlife experts as we work to uncover and identify the variety of species that call our Northwood Center home! How will we be doing this? By organizing a BioBlitz! A BioBlitz is an organized effort to catalogue all living organisms in a specified location over a set period of time. Take some time out of your day to explore our Ryan DeWitt Memorial trail and participate in a few activities to celebrate Arbor Day. We encourage anyone that would like to participate in this event to stop by Northwood at any time between 8:30am to 4:00pm to help us identify as many different species as possible! COST: FREE CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s CMBO programs are virtually never cancelled. NJ Audubon Technoloy and Nature at Hawk Rise Sanctuary
Hawk Rise Sanctuary 1811 Lower Rd, Linden, NJ, United StatesLed by Angus Macaulay, NJ Audubon Teacher Naturalist Bridge the gap between nature and technology. Discuss the pros and cons of nature identification apps and use them as we walk the trails of Hawk Rise. The primary app for this program will be iNaturalist. You may consider installing this app in advance. This program is appropriate for individuals of all ages. Come dressed for the weather. Iced tea and lemonade will be served afterwards. Back Bay Birding by Boat on the Osprey
Miss Chris Marina - The Osprey 1212 Wilson Dr, Cape May, NJ 08204, NJ, United StatesJoin Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. NJ Audubon River Ramble
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesBring the family and explore a stream with nets and buckets. Catch crayfish, water striders, water pennies, and more! The Passaic River gently flows through our sanctuary, and is shallow and perfect for wading in. Please wear sturdy closed-toe water shoes. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. Registration required by 6/02 at 4:00 PM. One family per ticket. Limited to 6 families.
