Summer Send Off Campfire
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesJoin us for a Summer Sendoff Campfire! Join the Lorrimer Sanctuary Summer Camp staff for a campfire summer sendoff! We’ll be roasting marshmallows and making s’mores over an open fire while we tell tales of fun at summer camp! We’ll be playing camp favorite games with kids and parents alike and searching for clues along the trails during our scavenger hunt. Children must be accompanied by an adult; this is not a drop-off program. To participate in the scavenger hunt and some games, participants must be able to hike roughly 0.5 miles over gravel trail terrain. COST: $8 member child, $9 Non-member child. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however, registrations can be transferred to another program in the future. REGISTER HERE
Nighttime on the Beach
Mount Vernon Avenue Mount Vernon Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesMeet a Nature Center Naturalist on the beach for an hour of ghost crab chasing! Learn about ghost crab habitat, how they move, and what they eat. Do you think you can catch one? Discover what other creatures are on the beach at night. Pre-registration is required. COST: $12 adults, $6 children ages 3-12, children under 3 free. Children may not participate without an adult. Contact us at 609.427.3045 for private group tours and rates. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Meet at the end of Mount Vernon Avenue near the end of the Promenade in Cape May. We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over rocky and sandy area. Please bring necessary footwear, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, and other belongings with you that you may need. Restrooms will be available to the public 30 minutes before and after the program. EQUIPMENT NEEDED: We will provide at least 1 "Ghost Crab Catcher 5000" Flashlights (Cell phone flashlights work too!) Back Bay Birding by Boat on the Osprey

We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. Join Cape May Bird Observatory naturalists on a trolley tour to local “natural habitats” (with exits at two spots), learning about the beauty, diversity, abundance (millions of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies pass through each year), geography, and extensive history of this amazing spectacle. NJ Audubon: Family Wildlife Treasure Hunt
Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Rd, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist. Join teacher/naturalist Dorothy Smullen for an afternoon of searching for all kinds of plants and animals: vertebrates including fish in the river, insects and other arthropods in the field, and mosses, ferns, and fungi in the forest. We will even collect pond water to search for tiny wildlife under the microscope. Youngsters will have a nature bingo sheet, and older children will have a “Tree of Life” sheet to record the plants and animals we find. Registration required by 9/9 at 4:00 PM.
