Richard W. DeKorte Park 1 DeKorte Park, Lyndhurst

See wintering waterfowl, gulls, and birds of prey at this productive urban oasis. Open to youth 11-17 yrs old with parent/guardian. The wetlands and uplands of DeKorte can provide an excellent birding experience where a wide range of species including geese, ducks, gulls, and raptors may be viewed. Patches of trees and shrubs provide refuge for landbirds. Some birds we'll search for include many ducks including Norther Shoveler, Green-winged Teal, Canvasback; plus a chance for a rare gull and raptors like Northern Harrier, American Kestrel, Bald Eagle, and Peregrine Falcon. Be prepared for walking over flat terrain and possibly cold weather. We will spend three hours on our feet at traveling at a leisurely pace. Led by Scott Barnes and Mary Birrer. Pre-registration is required.  LOCATION: Meets at Richard W. DeKorte Park PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: FREE REGISTER HERE
