Petty’s Island Field Photography Workshop

Join us for sunrise on Petty’s for this 3-hour introduction to field and nature photography. We will explore some of our favorite places and show you some of the island's hidden gems and unique features. If you have a telephoto lens, bring it! Petty’s Island offers a great variety of birds both in the forest and on the surrounding mud flats. Spectacular panoramic views of Philadelphia will round out the experience. This workshop includes hands-on, personalized instruction on photographic composition, optimum exposure, and many other topics to get you comfortable with your camera. This workshop is for camera users. If you simply want to enjoy a walk on the island kindly register for a History Hike or Birding Program. Children must be 12 and older to participate. Enjoy a quiet morning at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff or Associate Naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 5:00 PM the day before the walk. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. One person per ticket. Face masks and social distancing required; please bring your own binoculars, loaner binoculars will not be available. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. Led by Kristin Mylecraine, Yoga Teacher. Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. For ages 15 years and older. Preregistration is required. Ticket sales end at 4:30 PM on the Friday before each class. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. We are offering an in-person class at the sanctuary and a virtual class online simultaneously. The in-person class has a limit of 10 people. Be sure to purchase the correct ticket. THIS CLASS WILL BE HELD OUTDOORS UNTIL OCTOBER 30. In the event of inclement weather, the in-person class attendees will be sent the link to join the virtual online class. BEGINNING NOVEMBER 6 IN-PERSON CLASSES WILL BE HELD INDOORS AT THE SANCTUARY AND ATTENDEES MUST BE FULLY COVID VACCINATED AND WEAR FACE MASKS. COST: $12 members, $15 nonmembers.
