Description
Wild Bergamot (Monarda fistulosa)
Tough, drought-tolerant, and deer-resistant, Wild Bergamot is a sun-loving meadow plant that has fragrant lavender flowers in mid-late summer. Deer dislike the strong, almost mint-like fragrance. This plant is very popular with pollinators, including butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Wild Bergamot can reach 3-4’ tall and up to 1-2′ wide and may continue to spread over time in good conditions. This plant does best in full sun and average soil. They will get leggy and not bloom as well in shade.
