Hermit Thrush have arrived for the winter, and we saw a few of them in the wooded areas of CHC WMA this morning. Sparrows were busy feeding in the grassy areas alongside the paths and Eastern Towhees were calling. Though most Osprey have departed for points south, a single fishless one flew over, bound for the bay. Northern Flickers were numerous, though not as numerous as Yellow-rumped Warblers, and migrating American Robins seem to be increasing in number. It was nice to hear a few Eastern Bluebirds in an area where the habitat has been restored for their use and we got long, close looks at a Cooper’s Hawk as it perched overhead.
