Above par birding at Cox Hall Creek WMA – May 7, 2023

Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Barry Hershfeld, Alan Crawford

Temp: 60°F

Winds:  W 9 mph

Weather Conditions: mostly sunny.

Cox Hall Creek WMA was the place to be this morning! After we saw and listened to the Kentucky Warbler for a few minutes, we continued down the path into the wet woods. The Prothonotary Warbler was singing loudly and continuously and eventually came into good view. Male and female Black-throated Blue Warblers were foraging in a low tree, a relief since everything else was high up, causing complaints to start about warbler-neck. A Warbling Vireo was doing its unmistakable warbling and an Indigo Bunting graced us with scope views. This was the kind of morning we all waited for!
