The flock of 18 White Ibis that flew over during this morning’s walk was no longer the oddity it would have seemed just a few years ago, before that species moved into the Ocean City Visitor Center heronry. Northern Gannets are still streaming down the bay, along with good numbers of scoters, loons, and cormorants. Field Sparrows are establishing their territories on the dunes, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers flitted throughout the park, and a small mixed flock contained Eastern Bluebirds, Pine and Palm Warblers and Chipping Sparrows. This was our last seasonal walk at the State Park; see you next week at TNC’s Garrett Family Preserve.
