The highlight of this morning’s cool and pleasant walk was definitely the looks we got of Yellow-billed Cuckoos. After hearing their call, we spotted an adult bird, then two fledglings. They perched and preened as we watched for several minutes and got good scope views. Other highlights included several flocks of White Ibis, a Belted Kingfisher, a mixed flock of terns and another of shorebirds, and a pair of oystercatchers with a chick. Indigo Buntings and Field Sparrows are still singing, and a white-phase Little Blue Heron was perched among the cedars.
