Birding Cape May Point – January 13, 2024

Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Bernie Hodgdon, Barrie Hershfeld

Temp: 55°F

Winds: SW 16mph

Weather Conditions: partly cloudy

As we rounded Bunker Pond, coming down off the first dune crossing, an American Bittern flew into view and landed on the pond edge. Not far away was a second bittern and the two interacted briefly as we watched. Yellow-rumped Warblers continue in good numbers, and we were seldom out of hearing of their flat chip notes. Two Blue-winged Teal and three Lesser Scaup were among the sixteen species of ducks present.
