Spring Birding at Hawk Rise Sanctuary
Hawk Rise Sanctuary 1811 Lower Rd, LindenExplore the various habitats at Hawk Rise Sanctuary to look for spring migrants. Join NJ Audubon Program Director Scott Barnes and associate naturalists for a leisurely walk at the sanctuary. We’ll look for woodpeckers, thrushes and warblers in the woods and wetland birds like herons, egrets, and Ospreys along the Rahway River. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: FREE NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: All NJ counties are considered medium to low COVID-19 community levels. New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated, wants additional protection, or comes from a higher community level area should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors. Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. Have your kids join NJ Audubon Teacher Naturalist Anne Price for a six-week part series of afternoon explorations and fun. We will expand outdoor skills and build a team spirit all while having a blast. During our classes, participants will learn the skills of being a naturalist. Naturalists use skills to do such tasks as building a survival shelter, conducting a bio-blitz, monitoring a bird nest, and navigating with a compass. Join us and test your naturalist know-how.
