Family Fun Week B

Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May

Discover different habitats around Cape May through hands-on exploration, exciting activities, and creative projects! Join us for an adventure-filled week for people of all ages! We will immerse ourselves in diverse Cape May habitats to explore all things nature. We will visit a different natural area each day from the harbor beaches, saltmarsh, meadows, freshwater ponds, woodlands and more. We will explore on foot, on wheels, and on a boat. We will investigate natural phenomenon, get crafty with recycled/natural materials, and be playful in the outdoors. Get ready to be curious, creative, and open to new experiences! Note: in addition to our daily explorations, we will include a night hike for ghost crabs! DETAILS: For two or more Adult & Child combos. One adult must accompany child(ren). Ages 3 and up! Session B: August 22nd-26th, 2022: M-F, 9:00am to 12:00pm, with a Thursday evening special program Pre-registration is required. COST: Two-person rate: $240/week for members, $300/week for non-members Additional Person(s):  $60/week for members, $90/week for non-members EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Sunscreen, insect repellant, water, mask, sunglasses, sneakers. You will be emailed or told the day before by the instructor what equipment is needed additionally. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Explore both field and forest while enjoying beautiful vistas of the Passaic River Valley. This is the right time to discover late breeding birds like American Goldfinch plus early “fall” migrants and dispersing young birds that are not quite sure where they belong after their parents have left. Becker Farm dates back to 1880 when it was a farm. Over the years this farm added its famous railroad which entertained families for over 30 years. The now abandoned farm is a great place to spot grassland birds. Help pull a seine net through the Cape May Harbor to see first-hand what creatures inhabit the waters. Encounter an incredible diversity of marine life as you help pull a twenty-foot seine net through the shallows of Cape May Harbor. You will learn about the ecology of our coastal waters, and about the fascinating and ancient Horseshoe Crab. A great family outing! Pre-registration is required COST: $12 adults, $6 children ages 3-12, children under 3 free. Limited to groups of up to 20 participants during this time. Children may not participate without an adult. Contact us at 609.427.3045 for private group tours and rates. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Meet 5-10 minutes prior to your program time at the picnic tables in front of the Trucksess Welcome Center at 1600 Delaware Avenue. We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over rocky and sandy area. Please bring necessary footwear, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, and other belongings with you that you may need. Restrooms will be available to the public 30 minutes before and after the program.
