Negri-Nepote Grasslands
We’ll search for nesting grassland birds including Grasshopper Sparrow at this hidden gem. This restored grassland hosts a good variety of breeding species including American Kestrel, Black-billed Cuckoo, Grasshopper Sparrow, Orchard Oriole, and Blue Grosbeak. Be prepared for three hours of walking over flat terrain. We’ll also spend a little time looking at butterflies and dragonflies. There are no restrooms on site. Led by Christopher Daly and Carole Hughes. COST: $20 Members, $25 Non-members WEATHER & TRANSPORTATION: Please arrive at the appointed time. Be sure to check the forecast in advance and dress in layers appropriate for prevailing weather conditions. We sometimes bird in the rain, so bring rain gear if warranted. Transportation during the field trip is by private vehicle (be sure you have enough gas). Most trips involve some amount of walking, sometimes through muddy or sandy terrain. CANCELLATION: NJA/CMBO programs require a minimum number of registrants to run, five days in advance of the start of the tour but are seldom cancelled. If we do cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, we notify all participants in advance, and all are eligible for a full credit or refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 30 days in advance. Cancellations 10 to 30 days in advance may be subject to a 25% service charge. No refunds or credits for cancellations less than ten days in advance unless due to health emergencies. REGISTER HERE
NJ Audubon: Guided Forest Bathing
Led by Joy Mentzer, Certified Forest Bathing Guide Forest bathing is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku. It is a practice that supports health and wellness through guided immersion in nature. Forest bathing is a slow walk where people are guided through a sequence of invitations to slow down, be present with our senses, and experience the natural environment. Research studies have shown the practice of forest bathing has many benefits. The impact on our health is substantial: lowering blood pressure, boosting immune function, improving quality of sleep, and decreasing stress & anxiety. The practice of forest bathing creates a path to reconnect and deepen the relationship to nature, to others, to our communities, and to ourselves. The health of nature and the health of people are woven together. Joy is a certified Forest Bathing Guide through the Shinrin Yoku Association. Welcome to Birds and Brews Family Fun Day! Support New Jersey Audubon's Lorrimer and Scherman Hoffman Sanctuaries. Join us for games, activities, and good times for all ages! Come join us at Fort Nonsense Brewing Company for a day of fun for the whole family. Enjoy a variety of activities focused on giving you a taste of nature camp fun while sipping delicious brews. **Activities** include camp favorite games, animal encounters, craft stations for the little ones, live music by Kickstart, Smash and Dash Food Truck, and of course, tasty brews for the adults. There will be something for everyone to enjoy! Don't miss out on this fantastic event that combines nature, creativity, and relaxation.
