Assunpink WMA
Late spring songbird migrants plus breeding species including both cuckoos & Yellow-breasted Chat at this productive central jersey hotspot. This productive locale has a mix of fields, woods, wetlands, and lakes. Spring songbird migrants plus breeding species including Yellow-billed and Black-billed Cuckoos, Yellow-breasted Chat and more. We’ll check the lake and adjacent wetlands for waterbirds. Bring lunch and be prepared for a moderate amount of walking over varied terrain. NOTE: there are no restrooms at Assunpink, so plan accordingly. Sometimes there is one port-a-john available. Led by Scott Barnes and Carole Hughes. Location: Meet at the Lake Assunpink Boat Launch just north of the intersection of Imlaystown Rd and Clarksburg-Robbinsville Rd. A perennial favorite for many breeding warblers and other songbirds in a beautiful setting during the height of the nesting season. Great roadside birding along the scenic upper Delaware River, with a wide variety of breeding songbirds, including Black-billed Cuckoo, Alder Flycatcher, Louisiana Waterthrush, Worm-eating, Hooded, & Cerulean Warblers. Led by Scott Barnes and Linda Mack. Location: Meet at the Kittatinny Point Visitor Center. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: $20 Members, $25 Non-members REGISTER HERE
