Troy Meadows Birding Walk

Troy Meadows in Parsippany/East Hanover is an excellent place to encounter ducks, herons, and marsh birds, plus migrating passerines. Footing can be wet.  Led by David Hall. Explore edge and meadow habitats for fall migrants with an easy walk through the reservation.  We will also explore the restored meadow habitat for Bluebirds as well as butterflies and other insects. Great Bay Blvd WMA

Stanley H. "Tip" Seaman County Park 120 Lakeside Drive, Tuckerton, NJ, United States

This large tidal marsh is great for shorebirds, rails, long-legged waders, Saltmarsh Nelson’s, and Seaside Sparrows, and songbird migrants. The so-called "Seven Bridges Rd" area of Great Bay Blvd WMA has some of the best salt marshes in the state, and is a magnet for wading birds and other tidal species. If the winds are right, we could see passerine migrants in the scrub-shrub patches along the route. Led by Scott Barnes and Amy Davis Location: Meets at Stanley H. Forsythe (Brigantine) NWR

Fall birding at one of the state's best hotspots. Expect shorebirds, wading birds, marsh birds, and raptors. Early November can be an excellent time to see a variety of waterfowl, lingering shorebirds, raptors including good numbers of eagles, and late season songbird migrants. Some songbirds may be present in the woods and fields. Led by Mike Mandracchia and Hank Burk. Location: 800 Great Creek Road, Oceanville, Forsythe NWR at main lot by headquarters. South Mountain Reservation Birding Meander

South Mountain Reservation - Oakdale Lot just past the Regatta Playground on the left coming from Northfield Ave side. Cherry Lane, Cherry Lane, Cherry Lane, Cherry Lane, West Orange, NJ, United States

We will hike several trails in search of late fall migrants. Target species include both woodland passerines and ducks on the reservoir. We hope to find breeding birds around the reservoir, in hillside forests, and on meadow edges in this very large, well preserved park.  Led by Dave Hall, Associate Naturalist Location: Meet at Oakdale parking lot, across from the swan boat dock on Cherry Lane.
