Old Mine Rd/Delaware Water Gap
Kittatinny Point Visitor Center 1 Interstate 80, Columbia, NJ, United StatesA perennial favorite for many breeding warblers and other songbirds in a beautiful setting during the height of the nesting season. Great roadside birding along the scenic upper Delaware River, with a wide variety of breeding songbirds, including Black-billed Cuckoo, Alder Flycatcher, Louisiana Waterthrush, Worm-eating, Hooded, & Cerulean Warblers. Led by Scott Barnes and Linda Mack. Location: Meet at the Kittatinny Point Visitor Center. Cape May Point State Park Hawkwatch Platform NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO naturalists for this 2-hour walk around the Cape May Point State Park and beyond! Not watching birds when in Cape May is like not visiting the Grand Canyon when in Arizona! Join us for a relaxed morning of birding whether you are a seasoned birder or have never really watched birds on purpose before PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: $6 members, $10 nonmembers. Negri-Nepote Grasslands
Negri-Nepote Native Grassland Preserve 260 Skillmans Lane, Franklin Township, NJ, United StatesWe’ll search for nesting grassland birds including Grasshopper Sparrow at this hidden gem. This restored grassland hosts a good variety of breeding species including American Kestrel, Black-billed Cuckoo, Grasshopper Sparrow, Orchard Oriole, and Blue Grosbeak. Be prepared for three hours of walking over flat terrain. We’ll also spend a little time looking at butterflies and dragonflies. There are no restrooms on site. Led by Christopher Daly and Patrick Belardo. An Evening at Forsythe (Brig) NWR
Edwin B Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge 800 Great Creek Road, Galloway, NJ, United StatesEvening birding at the refuge looking for waders, late shorebirds, and marsh birds. We’ll finish by listening for nightjars & owls. We’ll do a leisurely spin around the wildlife drive looking for late shorebirds, breeding species including Clapper Rail, herons, egrets, Seaside and Saltmarsh Sparrows and finish the trip by listening for Chuck-will’s-widow and Eastern Whip-poor-will. NJ Audubon: Old Coal Trail Birdwalk
Old Coal Trail - Clinton Rd NJ, United StatesJoin Associate Naturalist Dave Oster to bird around Old Coal Trail in West Milford. We’ll walk the Old Coal Trail and probably an additional trail that runs west and north of Bearfort Waters. These trails lead to higher elevations and dense mountain laurel thickets which should be in bloom. With a little patience it’s usually possible to get good views of nesting Black-throated Blue Warbler. This area is also excellent for Hooded Warbler and a variety of nesting thrushes, vireos, warblers etc. Broad-winged Hawk and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker are also possible. Just a beautiful area and very birdy. Some of the trail has loose rock so sturdy footwear is recommended. Please bring your own binoculars, and spotting scope if desired. There will be no equipment available to borrow. Ticket sales end on 6/10/2022 at 4:00 PM. Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate. COST: $15 members, $20 nonmembers. Troy Meadows Birding Walk
